Overview
What Is Otoplasty for Men?
Often referred to as ear surgery, otoplasty is a plastic surgery procedure that is most often used to alter the shape, size, placement, or symmetry of the ears. Otoplasty is also useful in correcting defects of the ear that may have been caused by injury or congenital traits.
Benefits
What Are the Benefits of Otoplasty for Men?
Otoplasty can be used to correct the aesthetic appearance of the ears. Ears that are over or undersized, that protrude, or that are disproportional to the body can be embarrassing or unpleasant for many. Otoplasty is a minimally invasive procedure that provides patients with long-lasting results that can boost self-esteem and promote confidence. This procedure can correct a variety of issues that men, teens, and even children experience. Candidates who suffer from defects in their ear structure, caused by injury or genetics, may also benefit from ear surgery.
Recovery
How Long Is the Recovery After Ear Surgery?
The recovery period following ear surgery can last about a week. Patients find themselves able to return to work in less than a week, though it is recommended for up to several weeks that vigorous exercise be avoided. It is not uncommon to experience discomfort, inflammation, and/or bruising after the surgery. Trouble sleeping has been reported among some patients who are used to lying on their sides. Following the procedure, patients may be required to wear a protective headband.
